PCIe AES/EBU Audio Interface with Wordclock and MIDI

The central of a professional all-digital audio studio has been created. With the best components available and only the purest sample rate converters in the circuit, the SERAPH D4 provides an incredible 140dB dynamic range at any point of the signal flow all the way up to a samplerate of 192kHz.
Using the modern PCIe interface along with customized transfer functions, specifically designed and optimized for 32 bit high quality and high speed audio transfer, this sound system can turn a computer into a super-solid digital recorder – but also into a unique signal converter or digital mixer. That is because the 16 channel AES/EBU system offers a full-range MIDI- controllable DSP mixing desk with 64 virtual channels, 5 pre/post aux-sums, up to 4 EQs in every channel and a super-flexible routing - ideal for retaining an all-the way digital and latency-free signal flow. Thanks to its 4 AES/EBU in- and outputs and additional 8 signals via the TDM SyncBus, the SERAPH D4 will be a reliable partner and the right choice for any all-digital studio dealing with multiple digital signals.
The new total recall AES/EBU digital mixer & patchbay!
As the member of the SERAPH series it features the new BEAST DSP, which will make additional mixing or monitoring hardware obsolete. Even a patchbay can be spared....
First of all, it includes a 64-2 channel mixer with one stereo aux and 3 more mono aux sums. These Aux sums are all pre/post assignable and can thus be used for headphone mixes or as effect sends. Furthermore every of the 64 channels provides an advanced filter section with
- One low shelf EQ
- Two peak EQs
- One high shelf EQ
Flexible and Expandable: The TDM SyncBus
The TDM SyncBus allows for another 8 channels to be mixed & recorded. Simply connect another TDM compatible MARIAN sound system and you’re ready for 32 channel recordings. Using the TDM SyncBus you could upgrade the system with additionally required connectors. E.g. with an 8 channel AES/EBU or analog system like the TRACE 8 / SERAPH 8 and TRACE D4 / SERAPH D4 But even without another system the TDM SyncBus is a very useful tool. Effectively this allows putting EQs on a mixing sum or re-recording software application signals.
Fast and Reliable: Multi-client Driver Suite
Every SERAPH audio system offers support for WindowsTM 7/Vista/XP/Server2003/2000. The truly multi-client and continuously improved driver includes ASIO 2, GSIF 2, WDM with kernel streaming and real, non-emulated DirectSound support, delivering smallest latencies for all software environments. As opposed to competitor products, it thus allows to run several audio applications using the same or even different audio interfaces, parallel on the same computer system.
Well-structured settings dialogues and menus of the driver along with simple to read and practical documentation in printed form, make it easy to set this system up and adjust it to the specific requirements of your studio. Of course all settings, including MIDI assignments and signal flow of mixer and routing can be saved in a file for total recall.
Powerfull and Future-proof: A perfect choice
The SERAPH D4 is available in two versions. For basic integration the SERAPH D4 with its Wordclock input connector will serve perfectly in all recording situations. The SERAPH D4 MWX provides an additional daughter board featuring 2 MIDI in- and outputs as well as a wordclock synchronization output.
The MWX will be automatically recognized upon connection with the main card and does not require additional software installation. The advantages of it are obvious: you can e.g. use the 2 MIDI inputs right away for controlling the BEAST with your preferred MIDI controller.
The wordclock ports are ideal for advanced clock setups that allow independence of the clock signals coming in on the AES/EBU inputs. That means, you can also synchronize all external equipment featuring a wordclock input simply using the SERAPH D4 MWX as clock master. Additionally the high quality samplerate converters on the audio inputs allow a unsurpassed flexibility in the clock setup of the digital studio. But of course the SRCs can of course be deactivated to retain a signal path, that is beyond any doubt – pure -.
A helpful tool to manage clock signals is the included software clock status panel, monitoring samplerates, lock status, samplerate converter status and possibly clock errors of all digital input signals.
