Session Template - Default.ses

Cool Edit Pro: Session Template - Default.ses

Have you ever wished that you could create a session template to load every time you start a new session? Well, now you can! Cool Edit Pro 1.2a and Cool Edit 2000 1.1 with the Studio Plug-In have an undocumented feature that allows you to create a session file and use that as your template for all new sessions.

Now you can set up your default session for your multitrack sound cards, automatically have a click track loaded into a track every time you create a new session, have track 1 to record from soundcard 1 and track 2 to record from soundcard2, or whatever you'd like.

Creating Template in Win95/98/ME
--------------------------------
Just create a session with the settings you'd like, then save it as "default.ses" in your Cool Edit directory (example c:\coolpro\default.ses). Now, every time you create a new session, the settings from the default.ses file will automatically get loaded and will be used as your defaults!

Creating Template in Win NT/2000
--------------------------------
In Cool Edit, go to Help > About > System Info. The 3rd row from the top should say “Data Path:”. This data path is different on each PC and for different users under Windows NT and 2000. Here is an example of what it may look like: D:\Documents_and_Settings\Administrator\Application_Data\Syntrillium\Cool_Edit

Write down or copy the above path. Create a session with the settings you'd like, then save it as "default.ses" in the Data Path. Here is an example of what the "save as" path may look like: D:\Documents_and_Settings\Administrator\Application_Data\Syntrillium\Cool_Edit\default.ses ; Now, every time you create a new session, the settings from the default.ses file will automatically get loaded and will be used as your defaults!

Notes:
------
This feature will only work With Cool Edit Pro 1.2a and Cool Edit 2000 version 1.1 with Studio Plugin or later.

Once you apply this template, then all your new session will have these characteristics. So if you selected 44100 Stereo 32-bit session as you template, you won't be able to create a new 22050 stereo 32-bit session any longer until you remove default.ses
