Cool Edit does not record!

Cool Edit Pro: Cool Edit does NOT record!

In most cases, this is caused because the wrong recording device is selected in your Windows settings. Here are instructions on how to change your recording device.

In Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT:

Dbl-click on the yellow speaker icon located on the lower right hand corner of your screen. Or go to Start > Run and type "sndvol32".
This will bring up your sound card mixer.

Select Option, Properties.

In the "Adjust Volume for" area, select Recording.
This will show you all the devices you can record from, in the "Show the following volume controls:"

Make sure all the devices have a check mark in them.

Click on OK.

At the bottom of each recording device Column, there is a check box with "Select" to the right of it. Use this to select the recording device that you want.

Make sure the recording Volume is at least half way up.

Close "Recording Control" window.

You will also want to make sure that Cool Edit is set to use the correct sound card.
You can do this by opening Cool Edit and going to Options > Settings > Devices.
Make sure that your Waveform Record selection is directed toward the sound card you are using.

You are ready to record.
