Cool Edit Pro: Do 32-bit files in multitrack go through 16 bits at any stage?

The choice is yours for intermediate mixing that will be played back through the sound card as well as the final mixdowns that are done through Edit-Mixdown. You select what bit depth you want in these mixes in Options > Settings > Multitrack. If you select 32 bit, all mixing calculations are done so that the audio stays in the 32 bit realm.
