24-bit, 96kHz formats

Cool Edit Pro: 24-bit, 96kHz formats supported by CEP and CE2000

Cool Edit Pro supports 24-bit, 96kHz formats. It also supports 32-bit, 192kHz, and 8-bit, 1kHz, and everything in between. In fact, Cool Edit was the first Windows program to support bit resolutions higher than 16bit and sample rates up to 10MHz. Yes, we mean ten million Hertz. (Scientists sometimes use these extreme sample rates.)

Note that most sound cards do not go much above 48kHz, but in Cool Edit Pro, you can specify any sample rate you like in the "New Waveform" and "New Multitrack Session" dialogs that appears when you select /File/New. If your sound card and its drivers do not support the format you specify, Cool Edit Pro will show an error message when you try to record or play the file.

So when you're ready to step up to 24/96, or even to create audio meant for DVD, Cool Edit can help you get there!
