I'm having trouble installing Guitar Studio. What do I do?

Win 9x and NT 4.0 Users - In very rare cases, users are having difficulty installing Guitar Studio 2.0 on Windows 9x and NT 4.0. If you are seeing messages indicating that Direct Show has not been installed, and/or that various DLL files did not self-register properly, you will not be able to use audio and MIDI effects in Guitar Studio 2.0. In order to properly install Guitar Studio 2.0 on your system, please follow the procedure outlined here.
Windows 2000 Users - Guitar Studio 2 supports Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT. It was released in July 1999, prior to the release of Windows 2000. While the application will probably run fine on your Windows 2000 machine, the installer does have a problem which prevents the application from installing in Windows 2000. Please note that while Guitar Studio 2 will run fine on Windows 2000, the product does not officially support the Windows 2000 platform.

I used the Song Wizard in Guitar Studio 1.0x. Can I still use those files in Guitar Studio 2.0?

Song Wizard has been removed from Guitar Studio 2.0, so you will not be able to use your Song Wizard files in their current form. However, you can open your Song Wizard files (.GSS) in Guitar Studio 2.0 and work with them as you like. Once done, we recommend you then save the file as a Cakewalk Project file (.WRK) to preserve the changes.

When I press audition in Session Drummer I don't hear anything.

In order to hear the audition, you must first make a time selection in the track starting at measure zero. This will make Session Drummer think there is data in the track, and will allow the audition to function according to the time parameter set in Tools | Global Options | General.

In the Session Drummer window, what's the difference between saving a Song and saving a Preset?

Saving a Preset preserves changes made in the Settings dialog such as new drum mappings, ports, channels, etc. Saving a Song preserves only the patterns you've selected in the current Song pane.
